“Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”

Who gets to be a member of the military?
Does homosexuality equal immorality?
It was a bad idea to institute this ban
Lie to conceal our orientation

The time has come to review
You don’t have a right to exclude
Most young people simply don’t care
So why must Gays lie to their peers?

Concerned and anxious about this change
Besides, can you define “openness?”
It’s not a Pink Military or a Gay Pride float
It doesn’t hurt units or the people I know

Policy based on nothing – prejudice and fear
I..? You. What we think really matters
Let’s talk about what the military means
And a roadmap for lifting this ban

Society shouldn’t impose this on us
Admirals, Generals are out of touch
Does it mean being anti-gay?
It’s past its time of necessity

Along the Banks of the Passion River

It is mid-day
But all is silent
One tree rustles above me
The lofty palm
Forgotten in the breeze

Unsuspecting, the sweetness of his words
Rushes on my mind

Scenes of men and gods
Sounds of flutes and beating drums
Cymbals clash

Devine King of the Rainforest
With furs and feathers
You rest alone
In a timeless sweet land
Only to sleep
Only to dream
You are a sacred bird
Against the mountainside

It was on this day
That the sun’s rays
Cleared his eyes

And my thoughts are only of him

Hi Hero

Tangled up zombie dance Penniless Prince
Passionate rave-up fell down in a trance
Friends in America how this feeling flows
Dangerously close interruption overload
Still an optimist haunted by daydreams
Mass hysteria seeing strange things
Cling to roof tops with regal splendor
Such short notice seasoned observer
It’s early as he scans the horizon
New world order in your garden
Destiny unknown exhausted faces
Stand up for higher minimum wages
Booby-trapped. In need of rescue
Delve more deeply into the issue
Cities social problems, it’s not the end
Good morning. Ten minutes to seven
Out of work and out of luck
Lopsided battle filled with blood lust
Resplendent in red, exposed and ramshackle
Promises alone I know no answer
Spread across town pushing and shoving
Now up, now down, the oddest thing
Top-heavy and with a head wind
Our hate, our curse rotting within
Mass of shards a final farewell
In the back of my mind a warning bell
A make or break event, I hear
This is the day the world came together
